Driving your precious baby, especially the first long journey is a scary thought. Seeking travel tips baby and you will benefit from can help ease that stress. - Sitting with or in-between children has its benefits. It can also be fun – you and hubby can take turns playing funny face games and ogling over your new addition. However in our experience, as they get older they expect you to constantly perform and entertain and this soon becomes tiresome.
- Driving at night – the obvious benefit is that baby sleeps, which is not always the case. But remember, you don’t. Not so bad if you can get some rest at the destination whilst baby is looked after by your partner or friends/family.
- Press on – If baby sleeps during your journey, make the most of it, press on if you can.
- Toys, toys and more toys and then anything that will suffice to keep them occupied such as the map or your sunglasses. If your children are a little older there are great game options, check out our entertainment list for more ideas.
- Stop – When all options are exhausted and so are you, STOP. Don’t be in a hurry. And more importantly, don’t drive when you are tired.
- Picnic Blanket – Take a water proof blanket that can be used as a crawling area – to help your travel baby stretch about at the stops.
- Madness time – allow children to go nuts at the services. –If there is a play area, make the most of it – running, jumping yelling. Better they let off all that steam and noise out of the car than in it!
- Don’t trust your Sat Nav- there is nothing more frustrating than driving to the wrong destination using your satellite navigation system. It happens. The golden rule for baby car travel is always take along a map and/or instructions as well!
- Get the right Car Seat – Children grow. Make sure you have the right car seat. As of May 2008, the new baby car travel seat regulations will be in force. It’s amazing how comfortable and adjustable the latest child car seats are. Click here to learn more about how to choose the right child car seat and current regulations.
