Baby flying - Baby milk, Long haul.

I will be flying on emirates to India (via Dubai) and I need to take at least 6 milk feeds for my child.
Can I take powder milk in the milk dispensers? Or should I buy it on the flightside from Boots instead.
Also are milk cartons allowed in carry on luggage because they come in 250mls and for obvious reason you cannot taste it.
Again do I have to buy it on the flightside from Boots?
Thanks in advance.

Good question Jay!
We had the same dilemma on a number of long haul flights (to NZ, Bangladesh, Thailand).
In every instance, we successfully used the 250ml pre-mix cartons as well as a couple of plastic 3x dispenser containers with the powdered version of baby's milk brand.
It was all scrutinised carefully by security and in our experience they didn't open the cartons and they let us take them through to the flight.
The powdered milk was a back up as it could be tasted in front of security and used as an alternative if for some reason they decided to bin the cartons - which they didn't.
I put everything in our baby's carry on bag and took time to carefully open it and show the security person every item inside - so that it could be scanned with no surprises.
Buying the cartons flight-side requires that you pre-order them, so that Boots definately have them available for you.
It saves you worrying, but you might end up with double the baby milk to carry - not necessarily a bad thing.
Don't forget to declare that you have baby food/milk on any arrival or landing cards, to avoid any surpises at your destination customs.
NZ customs took exception to our ignorance when we forgot about our baby milk in our carry on luggage (thinking only about the main luggage when filling in our declaration). An honest mistake but a big time waster after a long flight!
Hope that helps.
