Air Travel with Baby
Sit Back and Relax... Really?!

flying with baby

Air travel with baby can seem daunting – the airport queues, the luggage, the long journey.

And just as you feel you’ve mastered the great skies, your baby grows a little older (to become an air travel toddler) and you feel you’re back where you started – unknown territory!

If you are a new parent - despite all the horror stories - you’ll be pleased to know that flying with baby is much easier than flying with a toddler or flying with two babies or a large family – so make the most of it!

Important, before air travel with baby...

What ever the age of your little air travel companions, with the right mind-set, some good advice gathered here and careful planning, you should have the experience you are hoping for. You may even be brave enough to try flying solo with your infant. skycot or bassinet

Most airlines provide bassinets or air cots that fasten to the wall, or fold down in front of you, so that baby can sleep comfortably (while you watch very jealously!).

And unless you have a very advanced early walker, your little air travel baby will enjoy most of the flight safe and sound in your arms.

Air travel with baby is a great way to experience a complete change of scenery (and weather!) and might be just what you need.

TOP TIPS

Expect the unexpected then you won’t become distraught if things don’t go to plan. Delays happen, airport computers can stop working and luggage can get lost. If it all goes wrong despite your best efforts, just try to stay positive.

Get on last – there’s no rush and more room to move at the gate than on the plane – your seats will still be there waiting for you, and the airhostesses will move other peoples bags if the overhead locker is full (afterall, you baby needs theirs more).

Look for fast track lanes at customs for disabled / people with small children – they do exist and many airports. Ask the senior steward if they can give you a fast track pass for your family.
